Spread 199 – Where Learning Is Found February 15, 2013

I found this quote by Amin Maalouf to best reflect my visual expression of today: “To imprison oneself in a victim mentality can do the injured party even more harm than the aggression itself. And this is as true of societies as of individuals. They huddle themselves away, they barricade themselves in, they try to ward everything off, they close their minds, they ruminate, they give up looking for anything new, they don’t explore anymore, they don’t make any more progress, they are afraid of the future, of the present, and of everyone else.”

Interesting quote…but I LOVE the art.
I love this spread, and I love the quote. Break free! Happy Birthday Orly!
With much love!
That sums up my view of this country! But the sad thing is how it all begins in the education system, which should be helping to EDUCATE and INFORM young minds to be CREATIVE THINKERS with CRITICAL THINKING/ANALYSIS SKILLS, instead of training them with rote memorization and backward thought processes…and sadly, art education, which can help with critical thinking skills, is left out in the cold =-(
The new book is beautiful Orly! Looking forward to your class at AJ later this month
boy is that quote true!! the colors and images of your art work perfectly with this quote!!
I love this spread. I’m very attracted to oranges and red these days!
Well said. Thank you for bringing this quote to our attention. This spread is beautiful!

Orly – this year the theme of moving out of victim and into creator has been a huge theme for me! This quote is so true. And I will use it in the class I am doing on the 25th “From Victim to Creator.” Thank you for your radiant scope and depth. Thank you for sharing you. Thank you for being born into this world and making it so much better. Thank you for sharing yourself with us so generously and passionately. And thank you for this piece of art – I have to say it is stunning and stands out as a unique creation – something powerful rising into this page to be said. Bold, beautiful, rich. It is among my most cherished of your pages!
Not only another great Orly piece but a nice new background to boot! Hi Orly!
What I love about looking at your work, Orly, is that I feel like I am going on an adventure, perhaps a scavenger hunt. I always find something new each time and I always have such a good experience. Thank you for that. Lovely!
