Spread #14 – Ora Source August 14, 2008

“Ora”–a Hebrew word meaning light & joy–is the source for these mandalas. The marriage of ancient and modern symbols was always of interest to me. The mandala is the ancient universal symbol that utilizes circular and geometrical design to evoke spiritual wholeness. The timeless yet contemporary images of the Hebrew, my native language, and its history combine with the mandala and other traditional symbols to make for the colorful and spirited design of twelve greeting cards, showcased here as one whole piece. They have the ambition of bringing you light & joy–“Ora”.

If you wish to see these cards individually, please visit my portfolio site  http://orasource.net/illustration.html   and to purchase a nine card set, please e-mail me with your request at orly@orasource.net.

I love the whole meaning behind your artwork here. I’ve always wondered why your other site was called Orasource–now I know. It’s very nice, pleasing to say, and even better now that I know the meaning of the words. Your cards are each beautiful and special; I really have no favorite… they’re all too nice–and it’s true, the mandalas are all beautiful not just because they were painted so well–but because light & joy practically shines from them. (:
Great job once again!

I love the mandalas! My favorites are the ones based on fruits and the top right one. I love them because they are not only well designed and colorful, but they are also unique. Light an Joy is a very powerful phrase if you think about it. If you are sad if you see the Light and joy in life it will lift your spirits. Just like your art!
