Spread 63- Artful Blogging

Maya Angelou said that a bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song. She also said that there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. Yummy words. I would add that it is even yummier for a bird to know that other birds in the forest are listening to her song. But the yummiest of all is to realize that the other birds are moved by her song and maybe even are inspired by it to sing their own. I, too, don’t have an answer but since I’ve started ‘blogging’ I gained confidence in that I do indeed have a song. And now that my song is featured in the publication Artful Blogging I am officially in the yummiest of times. We all seek to live lives of significance, aspire to live lively days. There is no greater joy than the fearless practice of blogging, the unfolding of your never before told story, the creating of a new visual image, the singing of your song, one of many songs in your collection.

Among the magazine’s beautiful pages, filled with rich worlds of bloggers, you will find mine. What an honor. The breathtaking Autumn edition will be on magazine stands on Aug. 1st at major book stores such as Barnes & Noble and Borders, it can be also ordered online. Treat yourself to a copy of this attractive publication, undoubtedly a sense pleaser. Find fascinating words and images of fellow bloggers. Prepare to be enchanted!

The publisher of Artful Blogging and its editor Christen Olivarez handed me a treasured and an unforgettable gift. In the spirit of generosity I’d like to offer one of you, my blog visitors, a copy of this publication sent to your home. The receiver will be drawn out digitally and announced on Friday Aug. 7th.

To enter my Artful Blogging givaway please comment with your answer to the following question:

Why do you sing?

1. Dawn - August 1, 2009

You simply amaze me, Orly. I am so proud of you and so happy for you. I am blessed to know you and have you in my life.

2. Anairam - August 1, 2009

Congratulations, Orly! That is so fantastic, and I am so glad that I happened upon your birdsong on my journey! I listen to your song with joy, and your song has inspired me to sing a little louder, a litrtle clearer, wirth a little bit more confidence.

I sing, to share with others, but mostly for myself, to see what notes I can coax out of my squeeky, rusty and rather unused vocal chords …

3. trish - August 1, 2009

I stopped by to tell you thanks for the comment and I’m glad I did!! How exciting for you, to be published in Artful Blogging (to be published in anything, that is great!). So happy for you:)
Have never read the magazine, so I’d love to be entered in your drawing….why do I sing? hmmm….it’s just hard to resist really, it’s fun, uplifting;)

4. Renee Khan - August 1, 2009

Love Renee xoxo

5. Stephanie - August 2, 2009

Congrats friend on your beautiful article!! This bird is so happy to be singing with you!!

6. Judy - August 2, 2009

Congratulations! It’s wonderful that your work gets the recognition it so rightfully deserves.

I sing because I can’t help myself – ask my children who have had to listen to my spontaneous bursts of song – off key, wrong lyrics, whatever but still my way to share my joy.

7. theartofyou - August 2, 2009

Why do I sing? I think it’s pretty much my whole job on this planet. To sing. To sing my own, authentic, unique song. If I don’t sing my song, who will, as the saying goes. My personal philosophy is that God conjured up “Chris” for a reason. So “Chris” better be Chris, since evidently God thought some “Chris” was called for. You know?

If all of us singers listen to our own inner tune and sing it out, then what we have is diversity. Difference. Difference that inspires, ignites other ideas, and is ultimately a resource and a source of evolution – of thought, of being.

I think it takes bravery to sing one’s own, unique song. It’s often put down as “silly”, “embarrassing,” “weird” – or worse – if you listen to your inner voice and sing it. Thank goodness more and more people ARE singing out their unique presence in the world. Thank goodness it’s being invited so much more – by people like Orly who, in singing her song has encouraged so many others voices, mine included. I started my blog because I was so inspired and encouraged by her.

Thanks for your song, Orly. Way to sing.

8. donna - August 2, 2009

I sing to make showers more interesting and long car rides on the freeway bareable….and because it makes me feel more alive and present in my body…

Orly, Orly, Orly….
I am so blown away by your last year of adventure, you are very inspiring indeed – your pages look so at home in the pages of Artful Blogging, i feel you coming out in the words and in the images of those pages just as in all of the ones you have invited us to share in here. What beautiful relationships you have created through your blog with all of us. It is so nice to be able to move so many both in your own neighborhood and in neighborhoods far away. Your site epitomizes the heart and soul connections that this wonderful art of blogging has the ability to create.
Bravissima Bella!

9. Becky - August 3, 2009

I LOVE it that you are in Artful Blogging. It is a well deserved opportunity for you to share your most wonderful art!!! I continue to be sooo inspired by it.

Why do I sing??? Two reasons….
1. I sing if I’m panicked about something. It helps me breathe and focus.
2. I sing just because I like the song and the rhythm.
Nothing fancy… just a song.

10. Paula Bogdan - August 3, 2009

I sing to tell my story…all of our stories are important! They’re interwoven and they make up this awesome wonder filled world! Plus…if someone else tells my story, they may not get it right! Congratulations!

11. Gil - August 5, 2009

I sing because I want to make it known (mostly to myself but also to those who gain inspiration from this declaration) that I am a proud and full fledged member of this human race. My raw regard for it (each and every one of it’s constituents) and the sense of unconditional love, commitment, patience, and relentless trust I have towards this race…. a race that I so whole heartedly belong to, is why I sing. We’re on the same boat. Together we’ll sink or float. I stand attentive and at guard with even the smallest, most seemingly irrelevant offerings I have to offer it and its survival. Humanity is my soul mate.

12. joanne - August 5, 2009

hooray and congratulations for adding your song to Artful Blogging!… their pages are so very fortunate to be singing with your lovely heart’s song…

why do i sing? … because we all have a heart with a unique song to sing, and without adding that voice to the symphony a critical note would be missing… and with a missing note, there can be no harmony…

13. Lady P - August 6, 2009

wow – just wow
congratulations and i am happy to hear your song as well
to have met you in this wonderul medium and to share in your artful adventures – please put my name on the list for that sure to be a hit magazine

14. Martha Marshall - August 6, 2009

Orly, it is wonderful to know you’ve been honored with a feature in Artful Blogging. I do love that inspiring publication!

Why do I sing? I sing because no one else on the planet has the same song. My song might not be correct or on key, but if I didn’t sing it, it would be lost forever.

15. Marci - August 8, 2009

Congratulations on being published in Artful Blogging. Why do I sing? I sing because I like the sound of my spirit souring, I sing because it is the only thing that makes me happy, I sing in hopes that the world will hear me and fly with me.

I can’t wait to see your pages.

16. Lani - August 12, 2009

What a beautiful blog! I’m so glad I picked up a copy of Artful blogging!

17. Amy Arnaz - August 18, 2009

I sing because the Immeasurable Spirit of Creativity found a home in me and it spills out using me as it’s vehicle. I am about to choreograph The Four Seasons. The music and steps are building in me and soon the movement will SPILL from me onto my awaiting students and we will dance with the passion Vivaldi inspires. xoxo Amy
