Spread #78- Giving Thanks To Words November 25, 2009

Posted by Orly in Uncategorized.

Words…they are a person’s life. I have oh so many thanks to give, but today I give it to words. Aren’t words spectacular? Are you willing to imagine life without them…I am not. They are power givers. They can turn ugly to beautiful, challenge into opportunity, dark to light, gossip to praise, turmoil to tranquility, and so on. It’s up to me to pick and choose. It’s about what I say to myself and to others. Everyday I experience words with gratitude and today I am using my spread and some of my words to express that. What are you grateful for today?

Happy Thanksgiving!

A wonderful post. A beautiful spread.

2. Stephanie - November 26, 2009

and grand they are…your words. I have much to be thankful for and will spend the day tomorrow…
spending time with family and friends
sharing wine and conversation
playing games
riding bikes, yet going slow, if all this does not actually happen I will savor the moments that do…

these pages are incredible – and how gifted and fortunate you are to express those words in more than one language. being a huge word lover myself, i adore every bit of this post!

For art journaling blogs like yours – I say art journaling, but it’s so much more than a display of journaled pages…your words are so inspiring as well. Thank you. For my loving and supportive family. For my education. For the time to art journal. For friends. For music. For the beach and sand and sun in a California November. For my health. For the ability to help others.

I am not willing to imagine life without words and I do appreciate your post. I fight with them though, words, often concerned that I am saying the wrong thing, that what I want to say I am unable to articulate quite the way I want. I am thankful for family, friends, for my own attempts to commit to hope in the many ways it presents itself and for my ability to love art in all its forms. Thank you…

7. Briana - November 26, 2009

I just made my top ten gratitude list on my blog. My no. 1 is LOVE.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well Orly! your post made me grateful all over again.

11. rcscreations - November 27, 2009

Orly, I LOVE your post today…YES, I am grateful for words too! Since I was very young, I loved learning them, speaking them (I talked too much, especially in school!) writing them, cutting them apart and putting them back together poetically, making them into stories, and using them in my art. I am still enamored with them…words in my own language, and words around the world…
Thank you for your reminders…they made me grateful for the things we so often take for granted!
Thinking of you, and hoping you are enjoying your week!

This is a lovel;y page, Orly. Words are what make us human – they allow us to think thoughts and to communicate and to express ourselves.
I am grateful for life, for love, for my mind, for being what I am, where I am and with whom I am.

13. Shannon - November 28, 2009

I, too, love words. I especially love to hear them spoken, dripping off a persons lips, with their own personality, own special sounds. I’ve been really paying attention to the words I use as they are so symbolic…like if I day “I’m looking forward to the weekend” it may symbolize that I’m missing the present moment. I also think the words we say in our heads create our external world. So the more I observe my words and choose the ones that expand my awareness, the more joyous I feel. Thanks for your great post!

This spread has a sort of PUNKY feel to it. Maybe it’s just the lady, her assertive pose, and perhaps some of the font and coloring. Makes me think of the album art of CRASS. Google Image that band!

15. dorit - December 14, 2009
