Spread #100 – One Hundred Entries June 28, 2010Posted by Orly in Uncategorized.
Today I am celebrating two years of ‘blogging’. I have entered 100 art-journal spreads, created 200 pages, written 100 thoughts, received over 1,100 comments and over 52, 000 views. But what really counts cannot be counted. Exactly two years ago, I have entered a magical world I was long due to enter and I have expanded beyond my wild dreams. I have become unbounded. I couldn’t have imagined that the mere act of keeping an online journal would bring me such magnificence and gently prod me to explore and discover awesome dormant areas in me, areas hidden so well for so long. Through the practice of posting my art and ideas, I have discovered the one most important thing that leads to one’s contentment and most certainly led to mine and it is ‘connecting’. Connecting to self, and connecting to others, in deep and truthful ways. One cannot be without the other and both to be achieved through the continual act of creating (as it is understood by an individual). Today I declare myself to be inexhaustible, existing in abundance.
And there is more tangible reason to be content about today. My daughter Maya and I have just started our collaborative art blog called ‘..it’s about MOI’, please come visit. My ‘passport Journal’ is featured in the Summer issue of Art Journaling, it will be out in the book stores in July, and can be ordered online as well. There are exciting teaching opportunities coming my way this year and in 2011. Besides my monthly workshops in San Diego and Redondo Beach in Southern California, coming up are my three, day workshops at Journalfest in Port Townsend in WA, that’s in October this year, An Artful Journey, a three day retreat in the Santa Cruz Mountains in CA, in Feb, 2011, and three, day workshops at Artfest, That’s in April, 2011.
Today I would like to extend this invitation to you, it’s the one I have on my side bar since the beginning, “It’s a one-artist journal all right, but I sure enjoy these journeys where I travel solo and from time to time, here and there, I am genially joined by others while on their path to their own peculiar destination. So let’s meet up every now and then, as I put together my art journal, a book unfolding an intricate yet simple story…one page at a time”.
