Spread # 120- Pick And Save January 21, 2011

The process of making art is the same of making life. It’s one of constantly making choices of what goes in, and what goes out, what to add and what to omit, what to pick, and what to leave out, what to discard and what to save. It’s the culmination of our choices that makes our art and life what they are…beautiful.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” -Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Wow, this one really hit home for me tonight. I’ve been really reflecting on what more I need to let go of to make more time and space for my art. Thanks for this beautiful reminder. xo

Well said. I love to create collages and it is fun to decide what goes in and what doesn’t. Now I can see how my whole life is a collage. Art and Life are One! Love your art and your blog.

So true. The choices I make when I create come from the heart rather than the mind. Art has showed me the value of following my heart.
