Spread 204 – Flogging March 23, 2013

Posted by Orly in Uncategorized.

204 - floggingJust learned this word, I wish I didn’t.

It’s horrifying — but we can do something about it. I’ve just signed a petition to change the law in the Maldives to stop rape victims being publicly flogged for “sex outside marriage”. Politicians there make a lot of money from tourism, so a global outcry can get the president to face down extremists and act. Join me in this campaign, and send this link on to others:

Orly- Your art is wonderful; this practice is horrifying! Thank you for using this spread to make others aware of this incredibly inhumane treatment of rape victims in the Maldives. I have signed the petition, and posted it on my Facebook page. Hopefully, pressure from the international community will force those in power to reconsider making these poor victims of rape, victims, once more, of the society in which they live.

Your spread is beautiful. One country at a time we can wake people up. Thank you for sharing this. Your one original, wonderful soul.

It’s amazing that these injustices can still be perpetrated in a modern world. It’s time for people power to make a change.

Why is it that we are still so backward in thinking on our planet? Yes, I will sign, too.

Your piece is so intriguing, Orly. Not only is the obvious taking me in, but letting my eye go deep is a great experience as well.
