255-Payne's Gray

Working working working on the pages of my animal anatomy book, the one I got from my good, good to me friend. Altering them, to almost no recognition. Witnessing once again my sweet and comforting uncertainties, the ones that make me, me. In utter love with Payne’s Gray. In the middle of black and blue, where mystery resides. In excitement to see what will decide to stay after the constant movement from veiling to unveiling. Claiming advancement. Going back to the knowing that all falls into place in the end, since the beginning of time. All sorts of things end up here, including a piece of very worn out tarp found by the river that is connected to the ocean by the coast of Oregon. Payne’s Gray from the tube creating background to receive the miraculously matching Payne’s Gray that is engrained in the tarp. It’s really not Payne’s gray any more. It’s mine now.

“I took great pains” — love that slip of text with your story about Payne’s Gray. It is a favorite color of mine too. It is my hope that one day you will teach an online class. Sadly I live too far away to attend one of your in-person classes, but maybe someday…

I so love the ideas expressed here as a part of the creative process of “witnessing. . .my sweet and comforting uncertainties”, and “to see what will decide to stay after the constant movement from veiling to unveiling”. What rich life-altering experiences there are to be found in expressing your creativity in this manner! Exploring those “sweet uncertainties” and allowing them the opportunity to thrive can expand artistic horizons and bring new creative direction we could never have discovered by remaining safely in our own “creative comfort zone”.

It’s a WHOLE conversation about covering up and revealing, isn’t it. Sometimes, I love what’s “underneath” so much, that I’m just unwilling to sacrifice it. Maybe I stop too soon, but love is love and there’s just no getting around it:) what I AM loving, is being a part of your online FB group! It’s like a gallery opening every minute:) Laura
